For four days each November, the riverside district built for Expo 98 fills with lanyards. Web Summit, the technology conference that moved from Dublin to Lisbon in 2016, returns to the MEO Arena and the FIL exhibition halls in Parque das Nações from Monday 9 to Thursday 12 November 2026. Even if you have no ticket, it is worth knowing about: it shapes the city’s hotel prices, its metro and its evenings for most of that week.

What happens across the four days

The organiser’s 2026 event page and the European Commission’s HaDEA listing describe the format in broad strokes: talks on several stages, an exhibition floor of start-ups and larger companies, and a long list of investors, founders and public officials. The EU agency’s page gives the conference hours as 09:00 on 9 November to 17:00 on 12 November, Lisbon time.

The first evening is the set piece. The published 2026 schedule lists Opening Night on Centre Stage, inside the MEO Arena, from 18:00 to 20:00 on 9 November, followed by the first Night Summit, a run of informal regional meet-and-greets from 20:00. The schedule was still filling in as of late October, with some sessions marked “coming soon”, so expect names and times to change.

Web Summit is an adults’ event. Its venue guide says it is for over-18s, and minors may be admitted only under the organiser’s terms.

Registration before the doors open

You cannot simply walk in on Monday morning with an e-ticket. According to the registration page, every attendee must first collect a lanyard and wristband, either at Terminal 1 of Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport or at the Pavilhão de Portugal, the Álvaro Siza building next to the venue. Both desks open on Saturday 7 November.

WhereDays and hours published for 2026
Airport, Terminal 1Sat 7 Nov 09:30–22:00; Sun 8 and Mon 9 Nov 07:30–22:00; Tue 10 Nov 07:30–15:00
Pavilhão de PortugalSat 7 and Sun 8 Nov 12:00–18:00; Mon 9 Nov 12:00–22:00; Tue 10 and Wed 11 Nov 07:30–17:00; Thu 12 Nov 07:30–16:45

The organiser adds that these times may change as the event approaches. If you are landing on the Monday, the airport desk is the obvious stop; on any other day the Pavilhão de Portugal saves a detour.

Inside the venue

The venue essentials page is blunt about bags: attendees are asked not to bring them, only small bags are allowed in, and there is a bag drop at main registration. The banned list runs from the predictable (weapons, drones, fireworks) to the easily forgotten: non-retractable umbrellas, helmets, scooters and personal hotspots. On Opening Night, professional cameras with detachable lenses are also barred.

Food trucks and stalls are spread through the site and are entirely cashless, so bring a card. You may bring your own food. Lost property is held at the Info Point in Pavilion 1, and a venue map is only available in the Web Summit app.

Know before you go

Details as of October 2026:

  • When: Monday 9 to Thursday 12 November 2026. Opening Night is on the evening of 9 November.
  • Where: MEO Arena and FIL, Rossio dos Olivais, 1990-231 Lisbon, in Parque das Nações on the eastern riverfront.
  • Price: tickets are sold only through the organiser, with prices that vary by ticket type and change over time. We have not listed a figure; check the official site before you budget.
  • Getting there: the venue is a short walk from Oriente station, which is served by the red line of the Lisbon Metro as well as suburban and long-distance trains. Our guide to train tickets in Portugal covers fares if you are coming from Porto or further afield.
  • Staying over: book early. The week is one of the busiest of the year for Lisbon hotels, and if you are visiting for something else, it may pay to avoid those dates. Lisbon also charges a municipal tourist tax per night; see our report on Portugal’s tourist taxes for how these taxes work.
  • Age: over-18s only, subject to the organiser’s terms for minors.

Lisbon evenings that week need not be about technology. Our piece on the city’s fado houses is a good start, and the rest of November’s dates are in our Events section.
